Gummy Candy Basics
Before we dive into the recipes, let's talk a little bit about gummy candy. Gummies are a type of candy that are made from a mixture of gelatin, sugar, water, and flavorings. They come in all sorts of shapes, sizes, and flavors, from classic fruit flavors like cherry and lemon to more unique flavors like blue raspberry and cotton candy.
One of the great things about gummy candy is that it's incredibly versatile. You can use it in all sorts of recipes, from cakes and cookies to cocktails and smoothies. And of course, it's also a great addition to ice cream. The chewy texture of the gummies adds a fun and unexpected element to the creamy ice cream, and the sweet flavors of the gummies complement the coldness of the ice cream perfectly.
Gummy Candy Ice Cream Recipes
Now that you know a little bit about gummy candy, let's get to the recipes! Here are some of my favorite ice cream recipes that incorporate gummy candy:
Gummy Bear Ice Cream
This is a classic gummy candy ice cream recipe that's perfect for kids and adults alike. The bright colors and fun shapes of the gummy bears make this ice cream a hit at parties and gatherings, and the sweet and tangy flavors of the bears complement the creamy vanilla ice cream perfectly.
Ingredients:

- 1 cup of gummy bears
- 2 cups of heavy cream
- 1 cup of whole milk
- 3/4 cup of granulated sugar
- 4 large egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Instructions:
- In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, and 1/2 cup of the granulated sugar. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture is hot but not boiling.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks and the remaining 1/4 cup of granulated sugar together until the mixture is pale yellow and thick.
- Slowly pour the hot cream mixture into the egg yolk mixture, whisking constantly to prevent the eggs from curdling.
- Pour the mixture back into the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon. Do not let the mixture boil.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Let the mixture cool to room temperature, then cover it and refrigerate it for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Once the mixture is chilled, pour it into an ice cream maker and churn it according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- About 5 minutes before the ice cream is done churning, add the gummy bears to the ice cream maker.
- Once the ice cream is done churning, transfer it to a freezer-safe container and freeze it for at least 2 hours or until it's firm.
